Active Ingredients In Skin Care

So many options as fragrance-free alcohol-free and non-comedogenic are big for me when I’m buying my drugstore products and other things. I do is I turn the bottles around and I look at all of the ingredients in the best drugstore skincare routine because what I do find is that a lot of these masse beauty brands tend to use a lot of filler ingredients.

Kind of tricks us into thinking that the product feels nicer or it feels nice on our scanner and makes us look really good but it’s all very temporary some of these ingredients include silicone you’ll see it listed as de mythic own. I also see a lot of mineral oil being used in drugstore products neither of these ingredients is bad and when you speak to dermatologists the majority of them will tell you that silicone especially is totally fine to use it’s just a moisturizer. They say the same thing about mineral oil totally fine to use and at the end of the day like you know. We’ve all probably used a little bit of like Vaseline for instance and what they use it for is because it feels really nice it’s a moisturizer but it happens to be occlusive.

So if you use too much of it I feel like it just sits on top of your skin and it does end up clogging your pores at least that’s my experience a lot of people might argue with me about that one and say that silicone is total. So I try to avoid it as much as possible because I know I’m gonna end up having at least one product that’s gonna have the silicone in it same with mineral oil. I know a lot of people are gonna be like it’s not clean it’s toxic it’s bad for you it’s also just moisturizer people use it to make you know their products feel really nice

When you’re putting them on and they go on really smooth and it’s kind of like on top of your skin it doesn’t absorb but again it kind of sits on top of your skin. So it can clog your pores especially if you’re using it too often. So it’s one that you know you might want to try to avoid at least in all you don’t want it in like all of your products.

Skincare Cleanser

• Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash
• Simple Micellar Facial Gel Wash  
• Pond’s Cleansing Balm
• Garnier Micellar Water
• Cerave Micellar Water

1.   Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash

Neutrogena it’s their oil-free acne wash one of the things that I like about this is that it has salicylic acid and I’ll just say in general. I think that drugstore acne products tend to be a really good purchase because you’re just looking for strong ingredients right to attack your acne. You just want to be sure that you’re not overdoing it which can be the problem that happens with acne products at drugstores but this one is really good. I find that salicylic acid in a cleanser tends to work really really well.

2.    Simple Micellar Facial Gel Wash  

Again another one that would be a good second cleanse or just like the first cleanse in the morning would be this one from simple. I tend to find that simple has really good skin care products because they really are simple this is like fragrance-free. There are no chemicals or perfume color or any of that kind of stuff they’re kind of trying to keep it really chill and whenever. I talk to dermatologists about drugstore brands this tends to be a brand that they recommend to me a lot this one I really like.

Because it’s just they call it my seller facial gel wash the micellar part is like marketing you know it’s kind of genius that lets you know to hop on the micellar bandwagon. But truly what I like about this is that it’s a gel wash. I think a gel cleanser is just an overall really good cleanser for everybody.

3.    Pond’s Cleansing Balm

This one is one of those but speaking of the first cleanse I do have a hard time finding drugstore cleansing balms and oils that I like that really really melt off my makeup. This is a new one from ponds they’re calling it a cleansing bomb and it really is actually it’s a really good cleansing balm. I have tried it a couple of times a little goes a long way with this it’s a really nice little cleansing balm it kind of reminds me of the vanilla Cohen that. I’ve mentioned a few times the Korean beauty product and it actually does melt off all of my makeup you just scoop it up.

A little bit rub it all over your face just like any other cleansing bomber and oil and then rinse it off once it’s really melted down your makeup does work. I will say it has a strong fragrance it’s a nice Pleasant fragrance but it’s a fragrance and so that’s something that could irritate your skin.

How To Use Micellar Cleansing Water

I think there’s a time in a place for makeup wipes we use makeup wipes on set all day long. So I’m not going to say I’m one of those people that like absolutely doesn’t use makeup wipes there’s a time and a place for a makeup wipe. You know sometimes you can just go ahead and pull it out after you’ve double-cleansed your face maybe you just have like a little bit more eyeliner right.

You just want to dab it and be very very gentle but it’s not the way that you should first remove your makeup in my opinion because it’s then too rough. But I do like my seller water as a second cleanses it can kind of count.

1.    Garnier Micellar Water

If you want to skip that gel or that cream cleanser you can go ahead and use some Garnier Micellar Water. Just one of the things that I look for is that it doesn’t have to dry alcohol in it and with drugstore products one of the things that they know to kind of like put out there is that they point out that there is no oil no alcohol and no fragrance in this. They’re kind of aware that people don’t want this stuff in their best drugstore skincare routine products. So I look for that you also don’t want something like in my cellar water to have any like detergent or like surfactants in it and stuff like that. So you want to make sure that you turn around and look at the Garnier micellar water ingredients and make sure it’s really pretty straightforward.

2.    Cerave Micellar Water

It’s Cerave Micellar Water I have yet to use it I literally just bought this but it did catch my attention because it has ceramides in it hyaluronic acid and niacinamide in it you’re not rinsing. This off of your face you could but you’re not going to probably so that’s nice that you’re putting on some nice active ingredients on your skin it also says that it’s non-comedogenic. So it’s not going to clog your pores it’s fragrance-free which I think is a really big irritant for most people all right.

 Skincare Treatments & Serums

So when it comes to treatments and serums you’ll hear me say that’s where I like to put my money if you’re gonna kind of like pick and choose where you spend your money and some people have argued. This one is with me some people are like you don’t need a serum you don’t need treatment. I love the serums that I end up sticking with I do see a difference and I think it’s really important to put your money there that said it doesn’t mean that you can’t find products that have really nice active ingredients and that work as correctors.

When I say correctors and serums what I’m talking about are things like my retinol my vitamin C treatments for hyperpigmentation that kind of stuff. If you have acne-prone skin and oily skin you can find really great acne products and you find really wonderful acne products at the drugstore there is one product that you can now get at the drugstore. I just didn’t happen to find at CBS while I was there this week there’s a different gel which is a topical form of Accutane and it’s it’s really really good. So that’s pretty awesome some other products that I consider I guess like treatment or like miscellaneous types of products that you can get at the drugstore that I think are awesome are things like. 

1.   La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water

2.    La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume

This is a really good one another product that I like from  La Roche-Posay is their stick-up last bump it’s a repair balm. I think it’s very straightforward I think bombs like this people should just have it’s really good for soothing things like skin irritations rashes burns things like that.

3. Aquaphor Healing Ointment

If you have kids I like using something like this but if you have kids Aquaphor and I feel like you know it’s like dermatologists and pediatricians always just tell you to have aqua for at home especially. When you have a baby it’s like aqua for suddenly becomes life aqua for is just really straightforward it says it’s a skin protectant it’s an ointment it’s truly an anointment. You can use it on your lips you can use it on dry cracked skin if your child has some kind of like you know skin issue then throw on a little bit of Aquaphor and it really helps to soothe the skin and it’s just straightforward. So these are products that I just keep in my bathroom.
